GOW is basically a desi 'GodFather' made with a Tarantino mindset in Bollywood shtyle. Its the story of rivalry between three families which later become gangs through their constant fights. Here rather than the story, the characters and the narration of the incidents are the highlight of the movie. The movie takes it time to settle down at the beginning, but after that its so pacy that every scene is a delight to watch. The characters are real, their language is real and the actions are extremely raw. There are so many cuss words used, but they are timed so well that it would definitely bring smile on your face.
The most notable thing in the movie is that as the situation become more serious, the scene become more hilarious and the viewers are forced to laugh out loudly out of nothing. This is the real power of a talented film maker.
Performances:
Sardar Khan played by Manoj Bajpayee could be the most memorable film character in recent times. He was almost living through the role which was scary ,funny, romantic all at the same time.He is just terrific.Richa Chadda as Sardar Khan's first wife got a meaty role and her performance is stupendous(especially the scene in which she catches her husband with a prostitute).
Timanshu Dhulia as Ramadhir Singh is a revelation, its just his first film but the naturality with which he performs is unbelievable. Not the least, Nawasudin Siddiqui as Faizal Khan, 2nd son of Sardar Khan has a brief role in 1st part but whenever he grace the screen,he makes us glued to the seat with his impeccable screen presence and extra ordinary acting skills. He alone can be the reason to watch GOW-2.(His dating scene with Huma Qureshi is one of the best dating scenes I have ever scene in a movie).
The songs in the movie are like secondary characters and are played in the background. Its the best album in HIndi this year and Kehke Lunga , Oh Womaniya and Hunter are the pick of the lot.Other technical aspects like cinematography, editing, art direction are top notch.
I am writing this review after watching this movie three weeks before, but still the characters and scenes are well etched in my memory. I could write about other several terrific sequences in this movie like Manoj-Reema romance, 'Paide karne wale ki kasam' scene etc.... and this alone should be the reason to love this movie. This is one of the best hindi films I have seen in recent times and is highly recommended even for a second watch. This film is a sheer case of cinematic orgasm but definitely not for the weak hearted.
Now waiting for Faizal Khan to explode the screen in Part2...and I am sure they will!!!
ur perspective quite the same as mine. nicely brought out all the aspects of this movie.
